Researcher Concepts, 5G and IoT scenario evaluations (202281)

The position includes the following activities and responsibilities:

• contributing to Ericsson’s technology strategy
• developing novel radio network concepts and protecting them with IPR
• evaluating solutions or algorithms for identified scenarios and use cases e.g. using a “real network” simulator (Axcel)
• formulating recommendations for introducing radio network concepts and solutions into product development
• presenting results to stakeholders, and follow up to secure impact
• finding opportunities to validate concepts in testbeds
• supporting related standardization activities

DNEW Systems & Technology is a unit designated to secure future Technology Leadership in Networks. Technical focus 2017 includes 5G/NR, Advanced Antenna Systems (AAS), Internet of Things (IoT) and RAN Automation. The vacant role described below is primarily towards evaluation of technology and business potential of new radio network concepts, with extra focus on deployment scenarios.

Competence

• Excellent analytical, collaboration, and communication skills.
• A natural driver, result oriented with high energy and motivation, and willing to take on responsibility.
• Competence in wireless communications and genuine interests in radio networks (GSM / WCDMA / LTE / NR).
• Knowledge of system- or link level evaluations in Matlab and revision systems like SVN.

Qualifications

• M.Sc. EE, Ph.D. or equivalent.
• Possibility to travel (~2-3 times per year, ~1-5 days at a time).
• Experience from customer relations or mobile systems in the field are considered valuable merits.
