The Project Support and Administration Directorate at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for a Linux System Administrator in the Information Technology Division.
Description of division/group
The purpose of the IT Division is to provide sufficient, secure and cost-efficient IT to support ESS throughout its lifecycle. The IT Operations & Support group provides the technical tools needed to realise the project, providing a set of services and underlying infrastructure. The duties focus heavily on operations and providing services.
Description of main responsibilities
Being an organisation that is expanding, this role is ever evolving. Together with the team you will take part in developing the IT work to meet the needs of the organization. You will work in both an operational and project based capacity. This includes taking part of the daily work to provide service and working in different projects as both a technical provider and in the planning process. Your main responsibilities will be these services:
• Linux platform
• File sharing services
• Server hosting
• Database hosting
• Deployment & monitoring services
• Backup services
Other tasks include processing request for change, incidents and information. You will document and evaluate the performance of your services.
Qualifications
• University degree (BSc or MSc) in relevant field i.e. Computer Science
• Solid experience (5+ years) from a similar role, preferably experience in the public sector or work in a Research Infrastructure
• Master knowledge in Linux server management, CENTOS/RHEL
• ITIL 3.0 certified in at least ITIL Foundation
• Excellent written and oral English skills
Extra merits:
• Scripting skills - powershell, bash, python
• Provisioning & Configuration management skills
• RHEL certifications

Duration & Location
The position is permanent with six months initial probationary period. Your work place will be situated in Lund, Sweden. The position is to be filled as soon as possible.
