ABOUT GREENELY

Greenely is a startup company from KTH (Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan) developing the next generation visualization service for energy consumption. By using our mobile application, households will get an overview of their energy consumption and personal feedback on their energy behavior with minimum effort and no hardware installations. The Greenely app uses learning algorithms that track and analyze the households’ energy behavior and adapts accordingly. Through in depth and tailored analysis, gamification and comparison with neighbors, the households will be incentivized and nudged towards a decreased energy consumption. The service uses information from smart meters that are already installed in the majority of Swedish households. This means no extra hardware is required and enables a big spread of the product in Sweden, Europe, the US and other markets where advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) is rapidly increasing.

What You Will Be Doing

You would be completely responsible for developing and finalising our backend architecture decisions and technological options. You are a strong backend developer who has a strong insight to analyse and develop our backend system to the next level.

We currently have developed beta applications for Android and iOS. We are also finalising our back-end structure with a database (PostgreSQL), API (Node and Express) and data fetcher (GoLang). The data fetcher has been developed according to Ediel which is an e-mail based communication system used by the Nordic energy utilities. We believe that you, with your extensive experience, will be able to extend this and bring our product to the next step.

Core Responsibilities:

• You will be responsible for our backend architecture design and decisions, developing server applications and database systems to support our web and mobile client applications.
• Teaming up with application designers, you will play an integral role in bringing to life the vision of our ecosystem for both web and mobile users.
• Strong development skills, a desire to collaborate with others and excellent communication skills (in English) are a must.
• Assist in developing business logic with Node.js and associated databases
• Develop, review, analyze and optimize business logic and backend interface code for efficiency and performance
• Develop web APIs
• Support server configuration to optimize performance

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

You:

• Have a Software Engineering background with strong backend developer experience.
• Fluent in writing well-documented code and explaining methods.
• Experience with object-oriented software architecture and development, with a focus on server and backend development
• Worked with GoLang
• Experience with Node.js and SQL database design.
• Experience writing unit tests and testable code
• Track record of full lifecycle development responsibility
• Desire for responsibility and accountability

Bonus:

Experience with Python, Java, C# or Swift is a BIG plus.
