The functions we develop to automate the configuration of the network will also be used to allow new types of services in our network. To make this happen, the IT & Engineering department at Telia Carrier is now expanding its Engineering team!

We offer a skilled and passionate SDN & NFV Solution Architect a very interesting role where you get to make SDN & NFV implementations happen and also drive the innovation of network services.

As SDN & NFV Solution Architect you are the backbone of the Engineering team and you cooperate closely with the Senior Network Services Architect in Engineering and the IT Architects in the IT team. You are the ones that turn our global network into one of the world’s largest robots!

The SDN & NFV Solution Architect reports directly to the Head of IT & Engineering at Telia Carrier.

The main responsibilities are:

Design reliable software solutions that can be implemented and are in line with the visions of the IT & Engineering department
Participate in implementation projects and the design of new services to ensure the end result returns the desired result and also identify improvements
Gather high level requirements from the business and plan for how these can be realized and where in our roadmap it fits
Drive simplification, optimization, service-awareness and horizontal consistency across network layers and technologies
Ensure network robustness, flexibility and programmability as the foundation on which to deliver innovative services on top of
The main tasks are:

Create reliable software solutions that enables automation to and from the network
Promote simplifications in network architecture and supporting systems to make solutions possible
Drive or participate in proof-of-concept implementations of new solutions
Participate in implementation projects to guide developers towards the goal and to make changes to the design if needed
Lead workshops with the business in order to gather high level requirements
Lead workshops with the Networks department in order to allow implementation of automatic solutions
Lead or participate in procurement processes of required platforms or tools
We believe that you have:

A strong desire to take a carrier grade network to the next level of automation
A solid technical background that allows you to find reliable and innovative solutions
Holistic understanding of packet and optical networks, including protocols and technologies and corresponding virtualization concepts
At least five years of relevant experience in SDN & NFV technologies and concepts
Hands-on experience with:
YANG data modelling, preferably through NSO, OpenDaylight or other tools – used both for configuration and operational state management
NETCONF and RESTCONF
Agile environments with frequent iterations and tools like Git, Puppet or Chef
Integration using REST APIs
Understanding the mechanics around monitoring/logging, primarily through Netflow, SNMP, telemetry, CLI, BGP-LS etc – and the importance of how and when data is made available in a scalable manner
Strong experience in at either Java or Python and REST APIs
Proven track record of independent design and development of solutions – preferably used by telecom carriers
Good knowledge in and experience of complex object oriented modern system design
Keen interest in the business of a company
Good social and interpersonal skills
We also expect you to be fluent in English, both written and oral
