The School of Science and Technology is seeking a researcher in Scientific Computing for a fixed-term appointment.

Duties and responsibilities
We are looking for a researcher in Scientific Computing for the project "BIO-QC: Quality Control and Purification for New Biological Drugs". The project is an academic-industrial collaboration between Örebro, Karlstad and Linnaeus University and AstraZeneca and other companies within the Life Science sector.

In the project the researcher will initially develop and implement new efficient simulation algorithms for the chromatography and biosensor system used in the project. The algorithms can, for example, be Finite Elements or Finite Volumes solvers for Partial Differential Equations or Integral Equations. Next, these solvers will be used by the researcher to develop user-friendly algorithms for process optimization and the inverse problem, i.e., to estimate system properties from the system response.

The work will be done in cooperation with the participating academic institutions and companies and the algorithms will be evaluated using experimental results.

The work can be performed, to a large extent, off location with regular project meetings.

Eligibility
The applicant must have verified expertise in the Scientific Computing area and excellent programming skills in MATLAB and either Fortran, C or C++. Experience using High Performance Computing techniques, for example CUDA, MPI or OpenMP, is desirable.

Assessment criteria
Apart from the requirements above, experience from scientific software development projects, either academic or commercial, is a merit. Furthermore, research experience, for example a PhD in Scientific Computing or from a related field, and publications in international scientific journals are meritorious. Good communication skills in English, both written and spoken, is a requirement.

Equality
Our ambition is to create a place of work that is characterised by gender equality and diversity.

Information
The position is full or part time, but not less than 50% employment, and the work may be performed on or, to a large extent, off location. The employment will be for a fixed period of 2 years. The salary depends on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience.
