The Machine Directorate at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for a Summer Student Web Engineer position in the Integrated Control System Division.

Description of directorate/division

This division is responsible for designing, constructing, commissioning and operating the control systems for the ESS facility. The Integrated Control System monitors and controls most of the operational aspects. We cover a wide range of sensing, control and automation technology from highly customized electronics specific for ESS applications to standardized PLCs controlling building automation.

Description of main responsibilities

• Update and develop web pages for community collaborations where ESS is contributing.
• Further develop a test web site for the EPICS communities to approach a production setting.
• Interacting with community stakeholders via email and video conferencing tools is needed.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with EPICS communities (https://epics.anl.gov/index.php)
• Experience with web content management systems (WordPress)
• Experience with technical writing
• Experience in Windows and Linux operating systems
• Experience of working in an international environment is essential
• Excellent oral and written English skills are a prerequisite; knowledge of other European languages would be an advantage

Educational
We are looking for a pre-graduate universtity student in computer science or a similar field

Personal profile

• Ability to work effectively in and with team(s);
• Uses initiative to identify and resolve problems/issues and has good judgement;
• Excellent written and oral communications skills in English

Duration/Location

• This is a summer student position limited to 6 - 8 weeks employment during summer months 2018.
