Automation Software Engineering Manager

You will be responsible for leading Automation Software Engineering at Northvolt reporting to the Chief Automation Officer. Your team will design and build the systems and software which monitor and control the world’s most advanced manufacturing system starting with our suppliers, through our highly automated manufacturing lines, and finally monitoring our products in the field.

The ideal candidate has deep programming experience at a high tech company and is interested in working on real world problems involving geo tracking, industrial robots and automation control (especially temporal logic), high availability systems, and remote monitoring.

In joining us you will play an important part from the very start in building one of the first large scale European battery factories.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Leading design, development, and integration of in-house software products to monitor, control, and optimize factory and supply chain automation systems
Recruiting and managing software engineering teams responsible for in-house development of backend, frontend, and system software
Working with a cross-functional team of business and engineering leaders including hardware and controls engineers, devops, infosec, supply chain, and production operations.
Participating in vendor selection and requirements definition for supply chain and factory software especially as it relates to interfaces, data models, and APIs

Full time employment, fixed salary. Planned starting date is asap. Project Office in Stockholm, first production site will be in Västerås, and later on full scale production in Skellefteå. Location for role to be discussed continously.

Education/experience

MS degree in computer science or equivalent and/or equivalent experience or evidence of exceptional ability.
At least three years experience building and managing software engineering teams practicing agile development methodologies
Proven track record of shipping innovative products using modern tools and processes, especially test driven development
Excellent English written and oral skills, Swedish is a plus
Deep programming experience using modern languages and tools, especially python, java, and golang
Ability to quickly shift to a variety of development environments and manage multiple on-going projects
Experience working with cloud technologies and infrastructure as a service strongly desire
