Backend Engineer

Spotify is looking for a motivated backend engineer to join a team dedicated to accelerating Spotify's growth through data-driven testing and development across a variety of products and channels. You will join a small team of talented engineers that share a common interest in the development and support of scalable distributed backend systems using Python.

We are an agile company, and it is not uncommon that the code we are writing goes live within a few days (if not minutes). You should be eager to ship, deploy, and monitor your systems in a production environment in order to quickly respond to the growing and changing needs of your favourite music service.

This is a full time position, and you are located in (or willing to relocate to) Stockholm Sweden.

Requirements

You are fluent in Python, or have a huge interest in learning Python

.
You have experience developing on and supporting Linux/Unix systems

.
You have a good understanding of system design, data structures, and algorithms

.
You have several years software development experience

.
Nothing from low level hacking to large scale design intimidates you

.
You aren't afraid a midday Nerf-battle (bring your own weapon of choice)

Responsibilities
.
Develop and maintain backend systems written in Python (with some Java on the side)

.
Measure and evaluate feature and system metrics in order to continuously improve user experience and system performance

.
Work with technologies like PostgreSQL, Cassandra, ZeroMQ, Hadoop, Hive, Kafka, Storm, etc.

.
Work closely with Product Owners, QA, Agile Coaches and other teams in an agile environment to collaborate and influence new product development

.
Be proactive, go beyond expectations

Experience working with Cassandra and backend systems to support millions of users

.
Experience or interest in mobile application development on Android and iOS

.
Experience with real-time data analysis
