The team is part of an agile release train Enabling Base Technology and have many deliverables which are developed through advanced engineering and research projects. In our daily work, we are working agile (according to the SAFe framework) with 12 weeks program increment.
 

The wireless communication team focuses on multiple wireless communication technologies such as Wi-Fi (802.11, ITSG5/WAVE etc.), Bluetooth and cellular technologies such as 3G, 4G, and 5G. The team members are responsible for designing and verifying the wireless communication technologies through requirements, simulations and measurements. The team focus is mainly on physical and data link layer in the OSI model, however we also need to consider higher layers.

We need one additional colleague to strengthen our commitment to enable world class wireless technologies. Wireless system simulations are a key contribution to speed up our development. With your contributions to the area you will be recognized as an important player in the wireless field. The position is located in one of Volvo Cars’ development center in Gothenburg.

RESPONSIBILITIES
* Create and maintain MAC, PHY and Network simulation models and perform network simulations for wireless communication networks.
* Together with the team, perform network design, trade-off studies and assist in developing and defining protocols for Layers 2 and 3.
* Support in wireless testing activities (fault tracing and/or troubleshooting activities) whenever needed.

 BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
* Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, computer engineering, or other engineering field.
* 3+ years of hands-on experience with Network and MAC modelling and simulation for broadband access technologies: LTE, WiFi, ITS-G5/WAVE or similar.
* 2+ years of experience using Network Simulators like OMNET++, Plexe, SUMO or similar
* 2+ years of experience with network monitoring protocols and tools such as Wireshark, WinPcap or similar.
* 2+ years of experience with C, C++ or Python.
* Fluent communication in English (both written and oral form)

PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
* Strong theoretical background in Wireless Networks.
* Detailed knowledge in protocol standards such as IPv4, IPv6, LTE, 802.11b/g/n/ac/p, ITS-G5.
* Knowledge of networking protocols and applications, including TCP/IP.
* Knowledge in several of the following: network protocols and applications including TCP/IP, QoS algorithms, cellular network protocols, software defined networks, network security.
* Experience with systems integration and testing methodologies.
* Skilled in troubleshooting and tuning of component hardware, software, networking and communications protocol problems.
* Swedish driving license (b)
