Assessment model for predictable software for autonomous systems

Many software systems are becoming increasingly complex. At the same time, they must always operate in all conditions. Imagine an autonomous car that you do not trust, an emergency phone that does not work when you need it or a water system that stops working.
Description
This degree project aims at evaluating different methods for assessing how robust and predictable a software is and developing a model to be able to score a rating or value. This may require some requirements on systemization, interface definition and the contract / requirements in its interface. Afterwards apply the methodology to the program code for a small 1:12 scaled autonomous car equipped with lidar, stereo camera and various sensor systems. This might include reprogramming some of the interfaces if required

Who are you?
The thesis is at master's level, scheduled to be started by Q1-2019, suitable for two persons and will be performed mainly at ÅF's office in Solna. We do also accept single candidates and can provide candidate matching.
This degree project will require good software knowledge and skills in programming. We believe you have knowledge in Linux, Python and/or C++ for interfacing the car and evaluating the softwareA requirement is that you have good knowledge in English, both oral and written. Knowledge in Swedish is meritorious.
