The biggest technology shift within the automotive industry in decades has begun. We have yet only seen a few glimpses of the morning sun but a new era is waiting behind the horizon. Connected and driverless vehicles are making their way into our lives, and it will happen fast! But already today this is a focus area for Volvo Group as our customers need more than trucks, buses or machines. They need a transport solution, which for us means fleet management, remote diagnostics and lots of other services you can do when things are on-line.

Main activities and responsibilities
We are looking for you who have a passion for technology and want to take part of developing existing and future software applications. As we are adopting the DevOps model your work will cover a broad spectrum all the way from developing prototypes of future “killer applications” to support and operation
Develop new software applications – frontend and backend - according to our development standards (requirements will be given to you, but understanding the wanted effect you should also be able to read between the lines)
Deploy, operate and maintain our applications incl driving continuous improvement of the same for better quality, functionality, cost effectiveness, etc.
Actively contribute to the solution design of new services
And finally, but not at least, continuously reflect upon how we are doing things and where we can improve

Who are you?
As a person you have analytical skills and you love to solve problems. You are good in communication, so that you can share success and failures with others, both with people as technically skilled as you as well as “business people”. Being a team player with positive mindset and a customer oriented attitude is in your nature, and you know the various challenges of application development. You must care for empowerment, inspiration and a “can do” attitude in the agile team to complete each iteration (sprint) as planned.

Your personality is your major reason for success, but we think you have:
A university degree in software engineering, computer science or similar, preferably on Master level
Some years’ working experience as Application Developer is preferred, but we also recognize experience through own hobby projects
Experience of Java 8, Spring, React, asynchronous programming, cloud services and micro service architecture is a great plus
Experience from mobile (connected) applications is a great plus
Fluent in English - both written and spoken. Basic skills in Swedish is preferred (then it will be much easier to pick up “korridorssnack”)

Developer competence Java 8 or later, JMS – backend (NO UI), Linux, Dev Ops – willingness mindset, Spring Boot
Nice to have: Wire Mock, AWS competence, MongoDb, Component test’s work approach, Context switching ability, Misc tech competence REST, AMQ, Telecom competence
