Front End Lead

Since you’ve landed on this page, you already know Hedvig is a mover and shaker in insurtech, and think you might have what it takes to join us. Our web developers form a relatively small but skilled team that is working hard to build Nordic’s most loved insurance company. We work closely with product, design, back end, as well as app developers to create the best experience for our customers.

We work mostly on developing our public website that is powered by React, Emotion (basically styled-components), and TypeScript. On top of this, we also use Koa, GraphQL with Apollo, and the CMS Storyblok. We hold open-source projects near and dear and hence most of our source code is public - you can check out our GitHub account to see what you’ll work on day-to-day if you wish.

What about the role?

As a Front end Lead at Hedvig , you will be responsible for both the frontend architecture and the responsibility of leading and coaching the other developers in the web team. In addition to the support on daily tasks, you will ensure that they are developing their capabilities, skills and careers.

While this is a technically focused role, it would also mean developing strategies, policies and efficient processes for the platform in collaboration with the rest of the organisation, focusing on frontend

The role also requires you to collaborate with the other teams to develop strategies and efficient processes for the platform.On top of that, you will have the responsibility of communicating with stakeholders by explaining solutions and technical trade-offs. This role aims to bring clarity to the organization over what we do and how we do it.

What about you?

Having experience as a developer along with coaching or leadership experience is a plus but we also value talent and the drive to develop. So you don’t have to be an experienced leader/coach, but you should have the interest, and motivation to develop in this direction.

A big part of the role includes hands-on coding, and you should be familiar with our tech stack.Our ideal candidate likes tech-savvy frontend work and a strong interest in front-end architecture. Having an eye for design is indeed a plus.

The closer your experience to our tech stack the better but generally we believe the following would make you a perfect fit:

• You are fluent in Javascript for web production, preferably React and Node.js
• You know TypeScript and preferably how to work with a headless CMS
• CI/CD & Agile working experience

More important than all of this, you will be part of a team that is value-driven, enjoys pair programming and takes code reviews seriously. We will all be learning and sharing knowledge together.
