At Schibsted, we believe we can create better, more engaging and user friendly news and products by collectively leveraging the data we already have from our product portfolio. Our Data Foundations’ teams collect and process data on behalf of all the Schibsted companies, like Finn, Blocket, VG, Aftenposten and Aftonbladet, and provide data and machine learning services to the whole organization, in order to among many things, facilitate innovation and collaboration.

We are looking for Software Engineers to join our SDK team, working with SDKs on Javascript, Android and iOS. You will collaborate with our users to form a coherent developer experience across different platforms, and the code you write will be responsible for sending 1.5 billion events a day and run in all the websites and native applications of the major Schibsted brands. The SDKs we provide are used across the entire Schibsted ecosystem, and puts high requirements on reliability, performance and usability.

As an SDK Engineer, you will be an enabler of the Schibsted Data Strategy helping us build all the data driven products including analytics, personalization, segmentation and advertising capabilities. Our SDKs are a key building block to scale our data strategy and initiatives across a large organization of well-known marketplaces, media houses and growth companies in the Nordics.
Who you are:

We are looking for developers with experience and knowledge within either Javascript, Android or iOS. If you have experience with more than one platform/technology, that might be a plus. You should care about the users of your software and have thoughts on what makes up a good developer experience. You find it motivating to develop software that will be used across a big organization and the fact your code will interact with a large share of the Nordic population.

What we expect:

- In-depth knowledge within either Javascript, iOS (Swift/Objective-C) or Android (Java/Kotlin) (or several).
- A solid background of fundamental computer science algorithms and patterns
- A good understanding of system design - being able to look at a problem and formulate a technically scalable solution to solve it
- Team mentality and willingness to share knowledge and ideas in a productive manner.
- Fluency in English language, both written and spoken.
- Interest in data in general, analytics and visualization.

Bonus points:

- Experience with shipping SDKs or library code to real users (e.g. open source projects).
- Having an interest in DX (Developer Experience) – how do we make better products by helping other developers?
- Having thoughts on API design and semantic versioning

Perks of the job:

- 10% of work hours to be spent on personal development (typically every other Friday)
- Active social committee organising a broad range of social activities.
- Conference budget for both external and internal conferences.
- 27 working days vacation (normally 25).
- Good pension scheme.
- Competitive salary.
- Excellent equipment with a choice of laptop and mobile phone.
- Central location of office in downtown Oslo, right beside the metro and five minutes walking distance from the central train station.
- Buffet lunch served every day for heavily discounted price.
- International work environment.
- In-house gym (when the offices are open… )
