Academic Work is on behalf of our client Giesecke & Devrient looking for a Unix System Administrator to their Stockholm office.
The primary responsibility for the Unix System Administrator is to ensure that the Unix network, comprising of primarily Linux machines, is available and maintained for developers and test engineers. You will be working under Giesecke & Devrient’s research & development unit, which include 45 collegues divided in smaller scrum teams. Their scrum teams in the Stockholm office consist of developers, testers, product owners and product architects. Your team consist of senior platform developers and architects. You will also have contact with the local IT-department and the global IT-department in Germany.
Academic Work is responsible for the recruitment process but the candidate that proceed will be employed directly by Giesecke & Devrient.
ARBETSUPPGIFTER
As Unix System Administrator, you have responsibility for a data center, which consist of both physical and virtual machines. You have an important role in the development of Giesecke & Devrient’ s products; we believe your knowledge of infrastructure will be of great help to the team.
The main content of this role is to:
* Manage physical and virtual servers
* Plan and maintain internal Unix HW capacity in an efficient and cost conscious way
* Provide virtual or physical hosts for toolchain to install server-based tools for development and/or test
* Responsible for installing and configuring development and virtual test hosts and operating systems, including storage and Oracle DB
* Responsible for the (virtual) test servers booking system, distributing the test and development environments between the different development teams
* Provide expertise on what solution to use to obtain fault tolerant and high available systems

We are looking for you who have:
* Good knowledge about computer HW
* Very good knowledge about Unix Operating Systems (maintenance and administration)
* Strong Virtualization experience
* Storage knowledge and understanding
* Proven architectural skills
* Good documentation skills
* Good knowledge about Monitoring
* Strong knowledge of backup solutions
* Strong Network essentials experience
* Very good scripting/automation skills – (such as Bash, Perl, Python)
* Good configuration management skills – (such as CFEngine, Git)
* Fluent English speaking and writing
As a person you should have a goal focused mindset and be supportive. The Administrator must be interested to learn and to share her/his knowledge with colleagues. He/she should be updated on the latest technology and strive for making the development and test environment as flexible and efficient as possible.
