We need another back end engineer to help work on scaling, reliability and automation. We have over 100 machines to manage now, mostly virtualized on Azure, and automation is more important than ever. Instead of hiring a pure ops person, we want to hire someone capable of automating as much ops work as possible. Where more automation means more sleep. The actual work is about maintaining and evolving our backend which runs on Ubuntu. We put a lot of effort into automate as much as possible using chef and other tools. Some of the software we run is HAProxy, HBase, Twemproxy, Redis and Kafka. We face new challenges with complexity when increasing the number of data-centers, handling more traffic from customers, etc

You have several years of Linux sysadmin experience. You need to know how to use Ubuntu, Chef (or Puppet) and package managers correctly. We also see that you have at least a couple of years of experience writing or maintaining Ruby or Python. Hopefully you'll have some published code (in any language) that we can take a look at. A decent knowledge of common data structures and algorithms is expected.
