Backend Software Engineer - Python

Candela’s ultimate purpose is to speed up the transition to fossil fuel-free lakes and oceans. We strive to re-think efficiency in marine transportation to radically push the performance boundaries of electric boats and ships.

By combining sensors, computers and advanced submerged hydrofoils, our electric craft fly above the water, reaching speeds and range previously attained only by fossil fuel powerboats.

After launching Candela C-7, Europe’s currently best-selling electric boat, we launched Candela C-8 in August 2021, the first electric boat intended for high volume production. We are also venturing into public transport with the revolutionary foiling P-12 ferry, built for the city of Stockholm.

We are now looking for a Backend Software Engineer within Python to support Candela’s growth ambitions.

What we do

Our boats do not only fly, they also connect to our cloud platform and interfaces. As a software engineer, you will have a vital role in our Candela Software team, building and developing our AWS backend in Python. You will join a committed and highly focused team, surrounded by colleagues with different expertise. The team manages our embedded software, boat control software, data ingestion, APIs as well as mobile apps and web interfaces that support our boats. They also support and collaborate with teams internally, e.g. our service team, R&D and Autonomous driving team.

We believe that you are an experienced backend technology expert that wants to write beautiful code for Candela.

To be successful in the role:

In this role, we expect you to take responsibility and get things done. You want to make the world a better place, one line of code at a time. Besides being curious and liking to learn new tools and the latest technology, you are also probably great at:

- Backend development with Python
- Designing and developing modern IoT/mobility backends
- Python API development
- Python web development
- AWS, Docker, CI/CD on Github

- Flask, OpenVPN, InfluxDB, Traefik, MQTT

You are also comfortable working in a small development team with both independent and collaborative projects. For this role, we also require a valid work permit for Sweden.

This is a full-time position at our Headquarter in Frihamnen, Stockholm. Working language is English, if you also know Swedish it will be a benefit for yourself, but it is not a prerequisite for the role.
